At the center of the work is a woven basket with sprouted potatoes, from which dense shoots and leaves emerge. An ordinary household object turns into a symbol of time and quiet transformation: a forgotten harvest comes to life again, filling the space with foliage and blossoms. The monochrome palette emphasizes texture and line, stripping the scene of everyday sentimentality and shifting it into a metaphorical plane. It is a reflection on cyclicality, memory, and the power of growth that happens unnoticed — somewhere in the kitchen, in a pantry, in the shadow of daily life. A collaborative work with the artist Sergei Rusak (zjum). Sergei is known for his intricate, entirely hand-cut stencils. On the canvas, he depicted a koshyk — a basket used for gathering the harvest; inside it, he painted potatoes that have already begun to sprout. All of these symbols are familiar and recognizable to every Belarusian.

About the artist

The artist working under the pseudonym Cowek is Yevgeny, originally from Lida. His creative journey began in childhood and has been evolving for more than two decades. His first street artwork, created in 2001, still remains in its original place — a lasting marker of the beginning of his artistic path. Yevgeny received his professional training at the A.K. Hlebov State Art College and later at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts, where he specialized as an artist, sculptor, and educator. His practice spans a wide range of visual art forms: sculpture, graphics, painting, graffiti, and street art. He has also worked in art restoration and in a mosaic-making workshop, which has significantly expanded his technical and artistic expertise. Cowek has participated in and organized numerous exhibitions and festivals both in Belarus and abroad. He is one of the founders of the street art community SIGNAL (2011–2015), which played an important role in promoting and shaping public awareness of street art in the country. The community organized exhibitions, lectures, and — in 2013 — the first mural festival in Mogilev, a landmark event in the development of Belarusian street art. The gallery is proud to collaborate with Cowek, as he is one of the most multifaceted and influential figures on the contemporary Belarusian art scene. His extensive professional experience, his contribution to the growth of street art culture, and his distinctive artistic style make his involvement in the gallery’s projects especially valuable and significant.
